Ingredients

  • 1 lb 450 g ground sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 8 oz 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup cream or milk optional for creamier texture
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 2 green onions chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Prepare the Cheese Base:
  • Reduce heat to low. Add softened cream cheese to the skillet and stir until melted and combined with the sausage.
  • Add Remaining Ingredients:
  • Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). For a creamier dip, add cream or milk gradually until desired consistency is reached.
  • Simmer:
  • Cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until all ingredients are fully combined and heated through, about 3–5 minutes.
  • Serve:
  • Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or sliced vegetables.
