Light, airy, and golden, these breakfast popovers are perfect for a morning treat. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re versatile enough to enjoy plain, with butter, jam, or even filled with eggs, cheese, or breakfast meats.

Equipment

  • 6-cup popover pan or muffin tin
  • Mixing bowls (medium & small)
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese cooked bacon, herbs

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 6-cup popover pan or muffin tin with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Prepare Batter:
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and melted butter. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, whisking until smooth and free of lumps.
  • Fill the Pan:
  • Pour batter into prepared popover cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Add optional toppings like cheese or cooked bacon if desired.
  • Bake:
  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until popovers are puffed, golden brown, and cooked through. Avoid opening the oven during baking.
  • Serve:
  • Remove from pan and serve immediately. Popovers are best enjoyed warm.
